TOPIC: I'm having a PROBLEM posting comments on articles

Just a quick GENERAL comment here to people - since (at the moment) this is my only means of communicating PUBLICLY with our readers/members (lol).

For some totally bizarre reason I'm currently having problems posting comments on my own articles (in reply to the comments of readers).

I can post anything I want, as often as I want on the FORUM with no problem. BUT when I try to post a comment I get an error message that I need to "log in" in order to post a comment. The problem is that I'm already logged in.

I've tried to log out and log back in - to make it "official" (lol) - and no luck. At the MOMENT I can't respond to any comments on articles.

Good news and bad news here.

I find that I can now post comments using Internet Explorer as my browser - but still not Firefox. However, when I post comments using Internet Explorer and try to QUOTE something from a previous comment then the quote box shows up EMPTY.

Lol!

As regular users know, these BBC "gremlins" crop up now and then - and when they do the little tricks they play (usually on ME) are TOTALLY unpredictable...

Jeff try the Opera web browser, the BBC gremlins have still not been able to subvert it! It's operations are almost exactly like firefox, Internet Explorer is a pain.

Thanks Samix!

Being a Dinosaur, I tend to be a "creature of habit" (lol!!). But I'm now so P.O.'d at Firefox (and have always hated IE) that I'm actually going to try something new...

(Mark this day down on your calendar folks!!)

...just thought of a question BEFORE I take the plunge here. I'm running an OLDER version of Windows still (remember: "Dinosaur"), so would there be any compatability issues running this version of Opera with an older version of Windows?

I went to the link and they seem to be offering only ONE download option...

Try this link Jeff, if you are on XP or above I think it should work without an issue.

www.opera.com/browser/

I think when you click on download it will figure out the best program for you.

Well, I installed "Opera"...and am experiencing EXACTLY the same glitch as with Firefox: I'm not allowed to post COMMENTS on my articles - because I'm being told I need to "log in first".

While I do like ONE feature I noticed immediately (the ability to easily enlarge/shrink the page), Opera ALSO has one of the WORST flaws of the latest versions of Firefox:

You can't SCROLL back more than one page at a time. Instead you have to INDIVIDUALLY click (one page at a time) to back up on any web-page.

This drives me INSANE!!!

When I'm doing my final editing of a new commentary in our system, by the time I get the completed version confirmed I often have to back up TEN or FIFTEEN pages to get back to the home page.

I calculated that these IDIOTS who no longer allow their users to SCROLL BACK on web pages would end up WASTING at least 10 minutes of my life EVERY DAY (in needless "back-spacing"). Should I manage my goal of living to the ripe, old age of 100; this ONE stupidity would WASTE roughly 3000 HOURS of my life.

Even the Dinosaurs at Microsoft haven't been stupid enough to change Internet Explorer - you can still scroll-back on THEIR browser.

I have had to go back to a VERY old version of Firefox (which I KEPT on my hard-drive) in order to find a version of Firefox which lets me scroll back AND doesn't try to HIDE "Google" from its users.
