I wanted to "file" this one here just so I don't forget it.

As per Mr. Jeff's request from my post in another thread.

To quote till the very end the bard...."He hath disgraced me, and hindered me half a million, laughed at my losses, mocked at my gains, scorned my nation, thwarted my bargains, cooled my friends, heated mine enemies; and what's his reason? I am a... 'BULL!'

I'm doing something a little different in our "Notable Quotes" thread: I'm posting a "rebuttal" to a notable quote which (I submit) is BETTER than the original quote.

In this case I happened to be viewing a re-run of that iconic Canadian philosopher "Red Green". While all of our Canadian audience will undoubtedly be familiar with the work of this "deep thinker", for the U.S. members of our audience I recommend some internet "research". I'm quite sure you will be able to find a NUMBER of clips - as "Red Green" was on Canadian television just SLIGHTLY longer than "forever".

The PARTICULAR example of Red Green brilliance I wanted to draw attention to was when Red brought up a popular quote/cliche from the world of "romance":

Being in love means never having to say you're sorry.

What was Red Green's rebuttal to this preposterous example of romantic idealism?

Any man who spends his entire life with one woman without every saying "sorry" is in for a VERY rough ride.

P.S. Red Green's motto? "If women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy."

Here's a quote I really liked which Bring the Gold posted in one of his own posts elsewhere, from Albert Einstein:

"Problems cannot be solved at the same level of awareness which created them."

In some respects this is simply a fancy way of saying that "we learn from our mistakes". Or in other words, our mistakes (ironically) make us BETTER in the long run - due to the WISDOM which we presumably draw from those experiences, plus the NEED to fix a problem of our own creation.

Note that this is similar to what I tell people who are new to the miners: if you want to become a "proficient mining investor" you NEED to "take it on the chin" at least once or twice - to learn from your OWN mistakes.

P.S. I think this thread has now earned its status as a "sticky" in this section...

"When a government is dependent upon bankers for money, they and not
the leaders of the government control the situation, since the hand
that gives is above the hand that takes.

Money has no motherland; financiers are without patriotism
and without decency; their sole object is gain."

"I wouldn't go to war again as I have done to protect
some lousy investment of the bankers.

There are only two things we should fight for.

One is the defense of our homes
and the other is the Bill of Rights.

War for any other reason is simply a racket."
