TOPIC: Announcing our "Silver Trivia" contest !!
#15254
Re: NEW Silver Trivia question for January 1 Year, 4 Months ago Karma: 193
In the first month, I got SEVERAL correct answers to the "Silver Trivia" question within minutes of posting it - and decided I had made things too easy.

However, at this point we're still looking for two winners for THIS MONTH'S question, so perhaps I made it too tough?

I'll repeat it again:

Looking back through the history of silver mining (and going in CHRONOLOGICAL order), what was the THIRD global "capital" for silver mining?

[Note that the answer I am seeking here is the name of a COUNTRY, not a REGION.]

I should also add that when we began this contest I suggested that people MIGHT be able to find some guidance for answers to these questions on site...

NEW replacement Silver Trivia question for January 1 Year, 4 Months ago Karma: 193
I stand before all our members today a humbler man.

In our first month of "Silver Trivia" we received a BUNCH of correct answers within a few hours of posting the question - and so I decided that question was a little TOO EASY. So I made this month's question significantly harder...and I'm still waiting for a correct answer.

Message received.

While people LIKE "Silver Trivia" they don't like it SO MUCH that they are willing to take on "homework assignments".

And so I roll out ANOTHER Silver Trivia question for January - harder than the first question, but easier than the second one. Hopefully I've had my Goldilocks moment here and this question will be "just right"...

New Silver Trivia question for January
:

In what YEAR did the U.S. government order the confiscation of the silver being held by U.S. residents?

Announcing "Silver Trivia" January winners !! 1 Year, 3 Months ago Karma: 193
Thanks for the intro Chris (lol!).

Before I get to January's winners for the Providence Supplies Silver Trivia contest, I just wanted to ask a GENERAL question of users: is anyone else having difficulty accessing our forum at the moment?

If so, please drop Chad a line to let him know: chadillac@bullionbullscanada.com.

And with that let's get to January's winners of Silver Trivia:

The question was: in what year did the U.S. government engage in silver confiscation?

The answer was "1934", and we have two, new winners this month. Congratulations to Mertis and Scobes9999!!

To claim your prize(s), just click on Chris' "Providence Supplies" username, and send him a message with your personal details AND the prize of your preference.

A BIG heart felt Thank you to the BBC and Providence Supplies!

As Earl knows all too well, I have been "chomping at the bit" to get my hands on the Deluxe Seed Vault Kit since this contest began.

I have many 'seed saver' friends involved with OWS and have plans to share my good fortune with many.

Thank You so very much.

Peace,
Mertis

NEW February "Silver Trivia" Question !! 1 Year, 3 Months ago Karma: 193
OK ladies and gents, it's time for ANOTHER round of Providence Supplies "Silver Trivia", with a brand-new question for the month of February.

What is the approximate ratio of silver to gold in the Earth's crust?

[Note: This question is looking for the SUPPLY ratio, not the PRICE ratio. Also, while several approximations can be found on the 'net, the official answer will be the ratio which has been previously noted on this site in several previous commentaries and posts on our forum.]

Re: March Silver Trivia question !! 1 Year, 2 Months ago Karma: 193
OK silver trivia fans: time for one more month of Providence Supplies "Silver Trivia". I'm once again going to try asking a question about silver-producing nations. However, instead of making the mistake of going way into the past, I'm going to stick with the present - so that there can be no uncertainty about the correct answer.

March Silver Trivia question: what was the largest silver-producing nation in the world in 2010 (the most recent year for which information is available)?

Once again, prizes will go to the first two correct answers. Prizes for March are to be announced, but for those wanting to have a guess at what might be offered, you could always go have a look at what is in stock yourselves...
