Question is fairly straight forward. With talk of interest rate hikes coming soon to Canada how would this affect the SP of our Canadian mining company positions? If it has any effect at all would probably be a better question...

Oh, almost forgot this one.

Interest rate hikes should have very little effect on the miners. With the juniors, most of the financing is still done through equity financing - and interest rates only have an indirect impact on that.

However, with U.S. rates permanently frozen and zero, and Canada afraid to increase the differential between rates, I don't think the miners have any reason to ponder higher interest rates for a while yet.

Also keep in mind that interest rates are so far BELOW long-term averages that they could go up several percentage points and still be "low".

Once the interest rates start to go up with some fervor wouldn't this have a negative effect on bullion prices which would in turn have an effect on the SP of the miners who sell it? As inflationary pressures rise so to will the pressure to raise interest rates to combat it. I know that the US is in quite the predicament whereas it might never be able to raise interest rates unless they have some crazy way of getting out of debt, but for us Canadians the central bank will surely raise rates as inflationary pressures rise. Eventually when the US dollar is no longer the reserve currency (if that can be possible) what will happen then?

OK maybe I'm stretching the imagination a little here! LoL

Navderek, we ALREADY have "inflationary pressures". I'm seeing food prices in the supermarket soaring higher by an AVERAGE of around 20%, with a LOT bigger increases in many basic food items.

Energy (and gas) prices are once again soaring, and with energy and commodity costs soaring, it's only a matter of "when" not "if" prices take-off in every other sector. I haven't looked to buy any clothes lately (foolish on my part), and wonder what I'm going to see after cotton prices have tripled?

Our idiot-Prime Minister and our traitorous Bank of Canada Governor have utterly no interest in protecting us from inflation. They have made it unequivocally clear that the ONLY thing they are interested in is destroying the Loonie, which is exactly the same thing as saying they WANT high inflation.

Using our equally-doctored "CPI" numbers shouldn't fool anyone. We are being SOLD OUT for the sole benefit of Wall Street, and the rest of the U.S.'s ruling cabal. That means that our Prime Minister is ALSO a traitor, or else a fool of the highest order.

P.S. Almost forgot to reply to your comment. No, these traitors/idiots will NOT raise interest rates. They've booked tickets on the Titanic not only for themselves, but also for all other Canadians.
